Advice from the factory
- Avoid open flames / insecticides / soap detergents.
- Allow excess mud, bird droppings etc. to thoroughly dry before softly brushing off and washing with lukewarm water only.
- Never store on a concrete floor (rather place on protective shelf off ground).
- Never stand on canvas area of tent. If an occasional seam leakage occurs, apply a recommended seam sealer or wax stick. A properly cared for tent will not need to be waterproofed.
- If you do re-waterproof your tent the following product can be used ( NU Seal) - apply using an air compressor.
- Your tent should not be stood on, stored damp, stored on a concrete floor, sprayed with insecticide, washed with detergent or pitched near an open fire.
- This leads to immersive de-generations of the canvas fabric which in turn could dramatically shorten the life of your tent.
- Secure tent when pitched , in order to avoid any wind damage.
- Always use your guy ropes.
- Pitch tent with all the doors and windows closed. This will avoid excess pressure being placed on the zips when the tent is secured.
- Use a groundsheet. This prolongs the life of your tent and prevents the floor from feeling damp.
- Remove tent pegs from the ground with either another peg or an "Easy Peg puller". Never pull the tent out the ground by pulling the tent fabric.
- Avoid pitching your tent directly under a tree that may drop sap as this may stain the tent or damage the waterproofing.
- Should any stains occur, the area can be lightly sponged. Do not use a scrubbing brush or any form of detergents as the waterproofing of your tent may be affected.
- Ensure that all open ends of poles where joined together are all completely free of mud and dirt which may seriously hamper assembly on future occasion.
- Never use excessive force when erecting tent onto frame - double check all poles ends are free from dirt and frame is securely assembled.
- Before first outing, your tent should be fully pitched at home to ensure that all parts are complete.
- Use the pitching instruction guide provided.
- Check all parts each time. Ensure that you have left nothing behind.
- It is always a good idea to have extra pegs, guy ropes and a storm strap in case of strong winds.
- Attend to any repairs that may be required well prior to departure.
- Find a dry and level spot to camp.
- Choosing a level spot on a knoll will prevent your tent from being swamped in a rainstorm.
- Remove all sharp rocks or sticks etc. in order to avoid damage to the ground sheet.
- Always use a netted or PE groundsheet between your tent floor and the ground.
